“Light up the Dawn” this ANZAC Day

Tomorrow is April 25th. ANZAC Day. This year we won’t be able to gather to remember the men and women who gave their lives, and those whom continue to serve, allowing us to enjoy our freedoms. However, we can still remember and honour them on Saturday 25th April 2020.

The ANZAC commemorative service will be conducted at 5:30 am and telecast on ABC TV, radio, facebook and you tube streams. Following the service, at 6:00 am, all Australians are encouraged to “Light up the Dawn” by standing in our driveways, front gates, doorways or balconies with a candle (or a torch). This is roughly the time that the Ode, the Last Post, the Minute’s Silence and Reveille will be occurring at the national service. You can follow this on your radio or device.

The order of this part of the service (Light up the Dawn) is:

The Ode – the reading of The Ode
Last Post – will be played
One minutes silence – to remember those killed or wounded in all conflicts
Reveille – will be played

This is the conclusion of the formal commemorative service.

Please join us all this ANZAC Day and make this solemn event truly remarkable.

The Ode

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
